Welcome to the Home Page of The Brookwood Cemetery Society

The Brookwood Cemetery Society is a voluntary group dedicated to the preservation, history and appreciation of Brookwood Cemetery.  The cemetery was opened in November 1854, and was the largest in the world. It was originally called the London Necropolis or Woking Cemetery.

Restoration News

Heritage Open Day: Saturday 11th September 2010, 2pm-5pm

Heritage Open Day. The Society will have its sales and information stand available during the afternoon outside the Cemetery Office. Refreshments should be available.

The Columbarium, Brookwood CemeteryBy kind permission of Erkin & Melanie Guney, the Columbarium will be open to visitors, with donations invited for future restoration work.

We anticipate that a new booklet, describing the history of the Columbarium, will also be available.

The emergency repairs to the roof of the Columbarium have now been completed! Thank you for your generous support and donations. You can read more here.
