Welcome to the Home Page of The Brookwood Cemetery Society

The Brookwood Cemetery Society is a voluntary group dedicated to the preservation, history and appreciation of Brookwood Cemetery.  The cemetery was opened in November 1854, and was the largest in the world. It was originally called the London Necropolis or Woking Cemetery.

News Update

Restoration News

Our list of guided walks has been updated through to December 2008.

Information has been posted about the restoration of the monuments to Rev Addison VC and to Jane Elizabeth Senior.

All guided walks now start from the entrance to the Glades of Remembrance, adjacent to the Cemetery Office.  There is a separate entrance to the Glades, with its own lay-by, off Cemetery Pales. Parking is available inside the entrance. Refreshments will usually be available.

There are new arrangements for all private guided walks in the cemetery, for which see this link on the Company's Website.

The Columbarium, Brookwood CemeteryThe Society urgently needs to raise funds for emergency repairs to the Columbarium, which is listed Grade II.

Further donations welcome - please contact Margaret Hobbs (address below).
